Greenhouse Club NYC

2008 December 7

Things sure have changed in the NYC club scene since I was doing it back in the 90s. Imagine smoking in this place, it would be vile, smoke clinging to the moist leaves.

Greenhouse is LEED certified. They have those low-flow toilets (please god no plants in there), and the electricity is wind-powered. Also, the uniforms are made by Bono’s clothing company Edun, but I couldn’t find photos, they’re probably cool.

Greenhouse opened on Varick last month and have taken over the space of my favorite club, ‘Shelter‘. I LOVED Shelter. More than any other club. I haven’t thought about Shelter in a long time, many memories flooding in…

Personally, I would not hang out here, I’m not a fan of house plants, so it’s pretty repelling to me.

Imagine sitting against one of these walls and get leaves all caught up in your hair?

Anyway, most people like house plants, so this place is very innovative and cool.
