Prado Museum On Google Earth
2009 February 19
Prado, Madrid is the first museum in the world to bring their collection to Google Earth.
Start out at Google Maps by doing a simple search for the museum, and a thumbnail menu of their most famous pieces appear in a pop-up window.
And, because these are the largest images in the world, you can magnify any part of the painting, without losing visible detail, and so have a greater understanding of the work.
It’s second best to the real thing; better than any book, I think.
On the maps page they also included this fascinating video that shows the process of shooting these enormous digital images and optimizing them for Google Earth.

Very cool. I am quite immersed in the world of Google right now as part of a project. I can't decide whether I love or fear them.
Oh, I have to love them. If I feared them I would probably not take as much advantage their extremely valuable tools. With most of these online apps, you have to have blind faith, if you want to remain competitive.
