The cat poke, I think, is like a warning or something. And I think, for me, poking isn't related to being straight or not. I like poking too, though I also realize that poking someone on Facebook does, usually, feel like poking someone in person. You can't do it to everyone, or else you get stabbed on the bus. Or pinned down & slapped upon. Poke wars can get annoying if they become unnatural and too mechanical, like poking someone back as a reply & then simply poking back and forth.
