HIP-HOP HALL OF FAME gets 10 mil
Unfunded for 17 years, “J-Train” Thompson’s Hip-Hop Hall of Fame is finally opening it’s doors in mid-town Manhattan in 2010. (I’d give you a link, but damn if I can find one)
The project probably took so long because the very people (artists) who would gladly throw money at an idea like this could not because of conflicting interests. You want to be a hall of famer, not a benefactor, and I’m pretty sure the rules say you can’t be both.
Not that 10 million is that much money. Is it really enough to open up a museum in mid-town? And who is the benefactor, anyway? No one’s saying.

Graffiti: Dondi
The inaugural induction ceremony is actually being held next week during opening day of the Hip-Hop Super Conference and Expo at The Puck Bldg. (Again, no link — amazing)
Artists who made the cut: Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur, Afrika Bambaataa, LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, Run-D.M.C., KRS-One, Salt-n-Pepa, Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh. Also, breakdancer Crazy Legs, DJs Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flash, rap mogul Russell Simmons, and graffiti artist Dondi.
