Switching Back to AT+T Unlimited Only Costs a Buck

When I got the iPhone in September 2008 (momentous, seriously; changed everything) I signed up for the unlimited plan because I wanted to use it to bang out content whenever I wanted, unhindered by worry of going over on minutes.

At the time, I barely used the actual phone, at all, and didn’t realize for a full year that data was unlimited, so I needn’t worry about overages.  So, when I found this out in September 2009, I changed my plan from unlimited to 900 min, changing my bill total from:

$170. -> $150

I felt empowered, ignoring the fact that I could have started out this way had I paid attention to the genius who sold me the phone in the first place, and saved myself about:

$140. for the year

This past month, though, I’ve been using the phone for actual phone calls by an increase of about 500%.  I have been putting off changing the plan back to unlimited because I loath talking on the phone, and I’m in denial that this new trend is going to change.  It’s not, people are not moving to Skype as swiftly as I’d hoped, regardless of my lobbying efforts.

So I called AT+T just now, talked to an angel named Donna Nelson, who walked me through my bill, my history and what my options were.  Turns out, there was a radical price change at AT+T the past couple of months and that there was only an increase of $1. to switch back to unlimited plan.

MORAL: You might be able to change your AT+T plan to unlimited w/ no increase in expense.

How much is your monthly phone bill?
