As the social media brains behind this operation, I’m focusing most of my promo efforts on the obvious (no need to be a hero): Facebook and Twitter (with a splash of Tumblr). For now.

I HAVE A CRUSH ON is an awesome little series that encourages people to post their fashion crushes to the FNO Boston Facebook page.  And bonus, we’re keeping a corresponding Tumblr blog that reposts all the crushes and credits the user for the post!

BE PREPARED

Set up for the worst (in case some asshole does steal your phone, right from under your nose, while you’re sitting at an out door cafe on Newbury Street).

When you buy the phone, do the following (list is in order of importance):

1. Have ‘locate my iPhone’ set up on mobile.me – not to find it, cuz that’ll never happen, but to wipe the data remotely so your identity isn’t stolen. (Android, Windows and BB probably have similar apps)
2. Get insurance. If that’s your thing. I don’t and still won’t for something so inexpensive. Doesn’t make sense to spend 1/4 of what the phone costs on insurance. It would have felt good though, had I had it…

DON’T HESITATE

Now if some asshole does, in fact, steal your phone, do the following immediately. (again, list is in order of importance)

1. Get to a computer, sign onto mobile.me and ‘wipe’ the phone. This will remove all sensitive data. If the asshole who stole it pops out the battery, the remote wipe will not work, so don’t hesitate.
2. Call cops
3. Call wireless provider and report lost or stolen phone
4. Change every single password of importance, especially iTunes since it’s directly connected to your bank. Then Facebook, Twitter, Mint, Gmail (email in general), etc
5. Write a blog post peppered with the word asshole to relieve some of the rage.

BONUS

For putting up with the swears

• When you drop your phone in the toilet (and you will) submerge it immediately in kitty litter or white rice for 24 hours. Good as new.
